January 25, 2006

The Narthex walls are being built - the exterior wall is up - giving shape to the area. The accessibility ramp is poured and curing and sheathing is being installed to begin closing in the new addition. In the old area, plumbing work is being done in the restroom continuing the progress of the renovations, too.

The exterior wall has been framed for the narthex, including more steel beams.

You can see the interior of the narthex starting to take shape.

This photo is inside the middle of the new addition. The walls in the center at the brick wall form the center hallway from the existing are to the new construction. The brick wall will be opened up to create the access. The excerpt from the plans below on the left shows this hallway.

This is the "other 1/2" of the center hallway. The steel studs are the wall for the hallway in the renovated area and the window will be removed as the wall is opened into a doorway.

Inside the new ladies room, the plumbing is being roughed in.

The new accessibility ramp is installed, but because of the cold weather, it's staying snug under some blankets to help it cure properly.

The exterior sheathing is being installed. This will not only allow the windows and doorways to take shape and look much more substantial, but will also help keep the workers warmer as it blocks the cold winter winds. Sheathing is also being installed in the attic area, will keep them all the warmer in the short term.
